Bosnia & Herzegovina probably isn't the first place that springs to mind for a family holiday. But the natural beauty of this region is truly stunning and the rugged peaks and ancient forests are a perfect outdoor playground.
Bosnia has for centuries been a crossroads of ancient civilisations, with a magical mixture of European and Near Eastern culture. The diversity is very evident, from the Oriental influence of Mostar and Sarajevo, to the numerous tiny hamlets where the traditional, tranquil way of life has remained unchanged for years.
As well as exploring the cultural and historic highlights, there is also plenty of opportunity for adventurous activities including mountain biking in the area that hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics and trekking to Bosnia's highest village. Add the option of rafting and canoeing on both the Neretva and Buna rivers and this promises to be a memorable week for all.
