Cross-country Skiing: Ramsau

Renowned for its strong association with cross-country skiing, Ramsau offers 150 km of well-groomed trails for all abilities. The loipe often follow gentle routes through meadows, though sometimes there are more demanding hillside traverses, all the time offering superb views of the surrounding mountains. Most days we will glide through hamlets and beside isolated farmhouses, but there are always plenty of cafés for refreshment, including the popular and atmospheric Halseralm mountain hut. Longer excursions take us into the foothills of the Dachstein range, or we can take the cable-car up to 2700m for a panoramic view, before venturing on to the Dachstein glacier itself. Here we can ski on one of the few loipe in the Alps that functions all year-round. Another highlight of the trip is our accommodation, the comfortable 4-star hotel Roesslhof.
