Spotted: Snow Leopards

We are pleased to announce that our February 2012 departure ‘In Search of the Snow Leopard’ has just returned with sightings of 2 snow leopards in 6 days.
Valerie Parkinson, the leader, reports from Delhi.

Sat huddled round a fire with the temperature outside at minus 15C, six days ago the Oracle of Sabu predicted we would see a Snow Leopard.

We scoffed - how can an 85 year old woman predict we would see a Snow Leopard when she didn’t even know where we were going? Cynical Westerners, none of us gave her prediction much credit – but we all pocketed the lucky thread she gave us. We were hypocrites, not fools.

After a few weeks of very low temperatures, a wave of milder weather brought some more snowfalls across Europe.

In the Dolomites, the solid cover present since the end of December has been maintained by the cold weather and a couple more snowfalls during the last 2 weeks. The forecast for the week is for sunny days with temperatures between 0 and 3 degrees Celsius: ideal conditions for days out on your skis or snowshoes!

Austria still boasts some of the best snow depths with still nearly 5 metres in Ramsau. And although the temperatures remain low (around -9 and -3 in Trins), the forecast is for sunny days here too.

With the eagerly-anticipated London Olympics and Paralympics seemingly just around the corner, plenty of people seem to be guiltily dusting off the gym membership in a bid to feel a part of what is referred to by many as the greatest sporting event on Earth. But if the spirit of the games is celebrating physical achievement, then the animal kingdom has a whole world of sure-fire winners up their furry, feathered or even scaly sleeves. Our proposed animal 'Dream Team' seems to square up pretty well with their human competitors …

Travelling Out of the UK This Weekend...

The recent cold weather has caused some disruption to travel plans and Exodus has been watching the situation carefully in light of this upcoming weekend.
Whilst there was another snowfall late on Thursday night, all London airports are currently operating as normal and don't expect any flight cancellations due to weather.

Should you experience any difficulties travelling this weekend, the Exodus office is open between 9am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday and will be available to help in case of problems. If you need to contact us outside these hours, there is also a 24 hour emergency contact number (details below and also on your Final Joining Instructions).
