NEW ‘Adventure Pioneers’ - highlighting unique or challenging trips in areas including Tibet, Bosnia, Mongolia and the Himalayas
SAVINGS of up to £50 on all new cycling trips for bookings before 31 December 2011

When the Olympic Games unfold in London in 2012, the most watched sport will be cycling, with a million people expected to watch. Tour de France attracted more than 15 million viewers and Olympic Champion Chris Hoy is a household name, but don’t stay glued to the TV screen – venture on your own cycling adventure, and with Exodus, the UK’s leading adventure tour operator, you can choose from up to 60 different trips across 35 countries.
The choice of trips for biking enthusiasts is vast and this year, responding to the massive growth in interest for cycling in general, Exodus has added 14 new trips to the menu. Travellers can now venture into an additional five countries on their two wheels – US (Alaska), Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Greece and Iceland – and enjoy trips that include cycling in Alaska, biking in the Southern Alps, cycling the Dolomites, Lake Garda and Venice and eight days cycling in Southern Iceland.

And if you needed any more persuasion, book before 31 December 2011, and benefit from savings of up to £50 per person per trip on any of Exodus’ new Cycling Holidays. There has never been a better time to escape on two wheels. Here is a selection of the newest trips:

CYCLE SOUTHERN ICELAND – eight days from £1,999 including flights and most meals. Next departure dates are 23 June and 7 July 2012.
A country shaped by violent eruptions and remorseless glaciers, it is a great place to explore from the saddle of a bike. In such a sparsely populated country, with so little traffic, cyclists can really get under the skin of the country and feel a great sense of isolation and wilderness, passing the infamous Eyafjallajokul Volcano, the colourful mountains of Landmannalaugar and the 25m high mass of water known as the Skogafoss Waterfall.

CYCLE ALASKA – 13 days from £3,559 including flights and most meals. Next departure dates are 9 June and 18 August 2011.
Nowhere else on earth offers such a perfect blend of excellent tarmac laid through pristine wilderness as Alaska. Thousands of miles of quiet roads and tracks offer the only interruption to a vast land of glaciers, rushing rivers, dense forest and towering peaks: ideal for the adventurous cyclist and an utterly unique biking experience. The wildlife is the epitome of North America and Grizzly bears, Bald eagles, moose, elk and wolf may be spotted from the saddle. Crossing Prince William Sound gives cyclists the perfect opportunity to look for whales, orcas and sea lions whilst another highlight is cycling close to North America's highest peak, Mt McKinley at 6198m.

COSTA RICA COAST TO COAST RIDE – 15 days from £2,449 including flights and most meals. Next departure dates are 3, 31 March, 18 August and 24 November 2012.
For rainforest, volcanoes as well as stunning sections of coastline, Costa Rica is the only choice and to experience that variety of terrain by bike is an extraordinary. Starting in San Jose the Exodus group cycle south, covering a stretch of the picturesque coastal highway, with vast Pacific views to the right and dense forest to the left as far as the eye can see. Through the rainforests, travellers can hope to see wildlife including monkeys and iguanas as well as eagles, hawks and Scarlet macaws. Crossing the 11,000ft Cerro de la Muerte pass into the Orosi Valley the group cycle past coffee plantations and volcanoes to arrive on the fertile Caribbean plains where huge banana plantations cover the landscape. The final stage of the trip journey takes cyclists to pretty La Fortuna, a lovely spot located at the foot of Arenal - Costa Rica's most active volcano.

• Best Specialist Special Interest/Activity Tour Operator
• Best Specialist Safari, Wildlife & Nature Tour Operator
• Best Travel and Tourism iPhone/Smart Phone App

Winners of four awards in the British Travel Awards 2010 – Small Package Holiday Company of the Year; Best Tour Operator to the Middle East; Best Tour Operator to North Africa; Environmentally and Socially Responsible Small Tour Operator – Exodus has more than 36 years of experience and operates more than 400 tours in 90 countries and in seven continents.

2011 saw a series of firsts for Exodus. In March 2011, a group went on the augural tour of a pioneering new wildlife trip to Sierra Leone, ‘Discover Sierra Leone’; Exodus piloted a new ski marathon trip in March 2011, the Engadine Ski Marathon, which will be introduced as part of a series of Ski Racing itineraries for the 2011/2012 ski season; Exodus added two new volunteer trips to the beautiful Zambia and Morocco in 2011so that clients can get directly involved in more Responsible Tourism Projects; and they will re-launch a trip to Burma, ‘Discover Burma’ in November 2011, following the lift of Tourism Concern’s boycott. Exodus was also proud to launch its first iPhone app in late 2010 with great success.

With tours as diverse as Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, Masai Mara, the Ice Hotel and Antarctica, Exodus offers an incredible choice of different trips for singles, couples, groups and families alike but at the same time, insists on low impact tourism and increasingly looks to bring benefit to local communities. Activities on offer include walking, trekking, cycling, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, caving, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and dogsledding as well as many many more.

Pete Burrell, Managing Director of Exodus Travels said: "We are delighted to be shortlisted for these categories in this year’s British Travel Awards and are grateful for the continuing support we receive from our clients and the travel trade. Each year we listen to our customers’ feedback, improve and add more itineraries, and discover more destinations, and with even more choice and diversity this year, we are confident that 2011 will be another exciting year for Exodus at the awards ceremony in November.”

BTA’s chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “The British Travel Awards are widely considered to be the “Oscars” of the travel industry! It’s the largest awards programme in the UK created to reward travel companies and the winning accolade is the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the business of travel for the UK consumer.”
Companies were nominated by travel industry professionals and a selection of the previous year’s consumer voters, and the shortlisted companies now go to the consumer voting stage. In 2010 over 120,000 votes were cast with the results scrutinized and audited by Deloitte LLP. The winners of the 2011 British Travel Awards will be announced at a glittering ceremony on 2 November at the Battersea Evolution in Battersea Park, London.

Exodus Goes Back To Burma - July 11

" NEW 'Discover Burma' trip to launch 19 November 2011 from £2179

After an absence of over 10 years, November 2011 sees Exodus, the UK's leading adventure tour operator, launch a brand new itinerary to Burma, 'Discover Burma'. A country largely untouched by tourism, this 16 day trip is a real treat for travellers keen to get off the beaten track. Highlights of the itinerary include visiting the stunning temples of Bagan, a cruise on the Inle Lake, and passing through Mandalay, the last royal capital of Burma.

If you consider holidays to be more about exploring undiscovered culture, learning about different societies and absorbing a rich historical past then this is just the trip for you. Burma was recently given the 'all clear' by Tourism Concern so only now are the tourists beginning to trickle in. There's never been a better time to be one of the first to explore this beautiful country and Exodus, winner of awards in Responsible Travel, is the perfect operator to travel with. Just enough time for travellers to really get under the skin of the country, 'Discover Burma' is a 16 day itinerary, flying into Rangoon from London. The next departure dates are 19 November 2011, 21 January and 3 March 2012.

A country with a colonial past, Burma has changed very little and Exodus will take the group to see thousands of temples - just as awe inspiring as Angkor in Cambodia but with far fewer tourists. With 2,000 brick stupas from the 11th to 13th centuries, in an area 16 miles across, Bagan is one of the main highlights of Burma but so is time spent in the countryside. With Exodus, you get a dose of both. Travellers will walk past minority villages in Kalaw, a former colonial British hill station, as well as cruise on Inle Lake, past leg-rowing fishermen, cottage industries, floating markets, monasteries and temples. At 13 miles long and more than seven miles wide, Inle lake, though bustling with local activity, is big enough for a boat ride to be a peaceful experience.

Andrew Appleyard, Exodus International Sales Manager said: 'Myanmar or to many still Burma, the current debate is whether operators should be going back into this country following years of boycotts with little tangible evidence of change in recent years? I have heard Burma being described as Vietnam, or Thailand of 30 years ago and being unblemished by mass tourism. My perspective having visited these areas of South Asia is that Burma stands alone; it possesses an embarrassment of riches and diversity to eclipse all its neighbours. From the towering Pagodas of Yangon to the tranquil waters of Inle lake Myanmar never ceases to amaze and delight you at every turn. What makes this country astounding is the people, with 139 different tribes and regional dialects the gentleness of everyone you encounter leaves you astonished.'

Justin Francis, Managing Director of Responsibletravel.com said: "The message from Aung San Suu Kyi is clear - she only wants tourism that will help the people of Burma and the conservation of the environment. Exodus, past winner of our Responsible Tourism Awards, has always excelled in this regard and I support their return to Burma and continuing commitment to responsible tourism.

PLUS, Exodus' toughest snowshoeing trip yet and NEW trips in Sicily and the Czech Republic

We're into July but there is no need to put your holiday plans on ice until next year. Discover holidays on ice with Exodus' new Winter Activities Brochure for 2011/2012, featuring 68 pages of winter holiday ideas, and you could spend winter snowshoeing in Austria, cross-country skiing in Norway or commanding your own team of Alaskan or Siberian Huskies in Slovakia.

Building on the huge success of the Engadine Ski Marathon trip, piloted in March 2011 and which sold out in record time, Exodus has introduced two new 'Ski Racing' itineraries, from £1,249 including flights. The Birkebeiner Ski Race and Konig Luwig Lauf, along with the Engadine Ski Marathon, will form part of the 'WorldLoppet' series - an international sports federation of cross-country skiing marathons - and cater for ski enthusiasts looking for a different type of challenge on their holiday.

2011 saw the largest overall growth in popularity for dogsledding trips of all the winter activities on offer, so in response to demand, Exodus has introduced a new 'Finnish Dogsledding Adventure' trip from £1,999 including flights and most meals. Competitively priced and seven days in length, this trip aims to attract clients seeking softer adventure but who want to spend longer than a weekend in Finland.

Exodus has also added two more eight-day cross-country trips, one in Nordseter, Norway and one in Chamonix, France. A market leader in cross-country skiing trips, the 2011/2012 winter season will see Exodus introduce its most challenging snowshoeing trip to date, Snowshoeing in the Nevache Valley from £1,079 including flights. An eight-day trip that takes travellers to a largely undiscovered region in the Alps, across tough mountainous terrain and along high ridges, it is a hugely rewarding trip with stunning panoramic views as far as Chamonix, the Cerces range and the Ecrins National Park.

Chloe Knott, Exodus' Winter Activities Programme Manager says: "For me nothing rivals the mountains in winter. 2011 saw me tackle my first cross-country ski marathon - an amazing and unique experience that we are delighted to include in the brochure for winter 2011/2012. Along with the ski racing trips, we are introducing new countries, a broader range of trips for both new skiers and hardcore snowshoe walkers. We hope you will join us this season to discover the endless adventure opportunities that this unique environment has to offer".

Here is a selection of Exodus' new trips from the Winter Activities brochure 2011/2012:

Birkebeiner Ski Marathon: From £1,449 for six days, including flights and most meals to experience one of the oldest and most popular races on the WorldLoppet calendar. A six day trip that includes four days of competitive ski racing, this is a trip that presents a different challenge for ski enthusiasts. A 54km classic technique race between Rena and Lillehammer, Norwegian Birkebeiner celebrates the heroic journey of the Birkebeiner skiers to save the heir to the throne in 1206. As a result, all competitors must carry a backpack weighing at least 3.5kg - to represent the infant king. Travellers stay in friendly accommodation conveniently located in Nordseter, with easy access to trails leading down to the famous Birkebeiner loipe. Practice and tuition will be given to ensure the best possible experience on race day.

Czech Republic Winter Activity Week: From £849 for eight days including flights and most meals. Next departures are 21 January, 11 February and 18 February 2012. A brand new location for Exodus' clients to enjoy winter activities including down-hill skiing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding and snowsnoeing, this winter itinerary explores the Krkonose or 'Giant' Mountains that lie in the north of the Czech Republic, on the border of Poland and has played host to winter sports for more than 100 years. Rated 'moderate' so suitable for winter enthusiasts of all levels, Exodus will take clients on the ultimate snow adventure as well as having a day to relax and discover the vibrant city of Prague.

Mount Etna Snowshoeing Long Weekend: From £649 for eight days snowshoeing on Europe's highest volcano, including flights and all meals. Next departure dates are 31 December 2011, 20 January, 3 February and 9 March 2012.
Despite being located on the Mediterranean island of Sicily, Mt Etna receives deep winter snows down to 1,800m and below. Suitable for snowshoe enthusiasts but of moderate level, so accessible to more beginners, this unique weekend trip will see travellers snowshoeing over snow-covered lava flows with an expert local guide. Then, after exploring the Southern side of 'Pista Altomontana', a circular path around Mt Etna, walkers will stay overnight in a comfortable mountain refuge before making their way up to the Bove Valley, one of the four craters that make up the top of this volcano. On the last evening travellers are rewarded with a celebratory dinner in the Catania's city centre, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, thanks to its impressive lava-built Baroque buildings.

Tiger Earning Stripes for Marathon Charity Challenge - Apr 2011

Marathon man Paul Goldstein of Exodus to run four UK marathons in a week in tiger costume for charity

The London Marathon, which takes place on the 17th April 2011, is run by more than 30,000 people each year, but how many of those runners precede the race with three other marathons in the same week? Even fewer run the London Marathon with a 9ft-high, 30lb aluminium-framed tiger strapped to their back on top of that.

One week, FOUR marathons - For Paul Goldstein, award-winning photographer, the London Marathon will be the fourth marathon he runs in April 2011; after Brighton (10th April), Manchester (12th April) and Cardiff (15th April) - all wearing the distinctive Tiger costume that caught the eye of London Marathon fans in 2010. With his efforts, Paul hopes to raise more than £30,000 to protect the Bengal Tiger, one of the world's most endangered animals.

Tiger numbers are at tipping point - At the turn of the last century, there were an estimated 45,000 tigers living wild in India's forests and now there are less than 1,000. Poaching has left an indelible mark on this magnificent predator and Goldstein is leading the campaign 'Worth More Alive', now in its second year, to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Bengal Tiger. Visit Tigers: Worth More Alive II for more information and to sponsor; visit his just giving site - www.justgiving.com/worthmorealive2.

Support Paul and help end the decline - with lively and lavishly illustrated lectures taking place across the country, award-winning photographer Paul Goldstein tells the story of the Bengal Tiger and other endangered species. Show your support at presentations in Exeter, Edinburgh, Brighton, London, Manchester and Cardiff. Visit Evening Presentations for more information and to register.

More than 100 miles! 48 year old Paul has been training 40 miles a week since October 2010 to prepare him for the epic challenge. He hopes his drastic attempt to draw attention to the issue will work but modestly says, "It'll hurt, but nothing to what tigers are going through". Goldstein continues, "I've been lucky enough to guide a couple hundred of people to see their first tiger. It leaves a lifelong impression but also reminds the viewer what an important animal it is. In running this marathon, I am raising much-needed funds for the cause and encourage people to realise that we are in danger of losing this privilege completely."

Click here check out Paul's training video and keep up to date

The importance of local projects - Funds raised for 'Worth More Alive II' will support Exodus' Friends of Conservation charity project in Bandhavgarh, India. Local projects in Bandhavgarh are vital for the survival of the tiger and the Exodus work in the Bandhavgarh region has included completely rebuilding a local school, installing clean water and funding a much-needed ambulance for the local hospital as well as patrol vehicles for the park. One of the critical projects for 2011 is a compensation war chest for local farmers who have lost cattle to tigers.

One pound for every Tiger found - Whether you're watching from the comfort of your home or cheering the runners on from the roadside, Exodus and Paul are offering you to make your own contribution to the cause and the best thing, you don't even have to spend your own money! Exodus has launched a social media campaign to support 'Worth More Alive II' meaning that every time someone spots Paul in the tiger costume, Exodus will donate up to £2 for posts on Twitter and Facebook. Write a message and contribute £1; upload an image contribute £2. Tweet using the #exodustiger tag or visit the Exodus facebook page at www.facebook.com/exodustravels.

A man of many talents - When Goldstein hasn't got a Bengal on his back, he indulges in his passion for wildlife, photography, travel and tour leading with Exodus. He's journeyed to, and led successful adventure expeditions across, all seven continents including trips to Kilimanjaro, Masai Mara and Antarctica. He is a lively lecturer and hosts photographic presentations across the country with the next one on 'Worth More Alive II', 'Endangered - Tigers and Other Predators' on Rougemont Hotel, Queens Street, Exeter at 19:00.

Exodus run more than 10 inspiring Indian itineraries and are huge advocates of responsible travel with the following tiger trip of great benefit to the Bengal's, those interested in their preservation and the local population. Exodus' 'Land of the Tiger' trip in India, is from £1,759 for 17 days, including flights from London, departing 11 March, 25 March, 8 April, 15 April, 14 October and 28 October 2011.

Lace up your Boots for a Spring Break - Mar 2011

New itinerary to Reunion Island, special departures to Kilimanjaro and classic trips including Walking in Tuscany

There is no better way to discover the world than on foot, close to the natural surroundings of the country. Exodus offers more than 150 of the world's finest walks and treks, from trekking on Kilimanjaro, to walking in Tuscan, to exploring the tea plantations of Kerala. With spring finally here, it's time to pull on your boots and start exploring.

Highlights of the Walking & Trekking 2011 - 2012 brochure include 14 new and improved itineraries as well as an itinerary in Reunion - a new to Exodus destination for 2011. Here are some highlights of Exodus' walking and trekking brochure:

Depart on 15 May 2011 for Walking in Tuscany - a seven night trip from £899
The rural enclave in northwest Tuscany known as the Garfagnana, meaning 'enchanted forests', has to be one of Italy's best-kept secrets. Within reach of the Tuscan gems of Lucca, Pisa and Florence, Garfagnana's appeal lies in its isolation, and striking scenery - away from the tourist trail. This area of outstanding natural beauty nestles between two distinct mountain ranges, the spectacular jagged 'marble mountains' of the Alpi Apuane and the rolling spine of Italy, the Apennines. The trip takes walkers between hilltop and lakeside villages and the pace varies from moderate to challenging, with trekkers rewarded with incredible views across the tranquil mountains.

Depart 18 April 2011 for a once-in-a-lifetime, great adventure from just £1,299: trek up Africa's highest mountain on the less demanding Kilimanjaro Rongai Route
This special departure includes two days at the Porter Education Project and a half-day walking safari in Arusha National Park. The Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and retains a sense of rugged, untouched wilderness lost on the crowded Marangu and Machame trails. This is for the wannabe machos who like the (relatively) easy ride. The Rongai Route is one of the least demanding of all the routes with a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages as it winds its way from the starting point just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border.

Depart 9 April, or 5 and 19 November 2011 for a trip through the beautiful hills and tea plantations of South India on the 16 day 'Spice Trails of Kerala' trip priced from £1,839
Exodus takes travellers through India's tropical south - a region that offers an astonishing diversity of scenery, culture and people. Highlights of the trip include a backwater cruise, a visit to the old Raj town of Munnar, sitting below the towering rock face of Anamudi (2695m) - Kerala's highest peak - and five days of trekking traversing the Western Ghats to reach the stunning Sri Meenakshi Temple at Madurai. Surrounded by hills carpeted with tea plantations, grassland and verdant forest, this is a walker's delight.

Depart 10 April for the High Atlas, on the 'Mt Toubkal Winter Climb' from just £889
Associate Morocco with sunshine and spice souks? With Exodus, travellers can experience another side to Morocco. Mt Toubkal and the surrounding peaks of the High Atlas is a walkers' paradise and spring is the perfect time to visit. The air is clear, and the views are spectacular. Starting from vibrant Marrakech, Exodus take travellers right to the heart of the High Atlas to climb North Africa's highest peak (4167m). This trip is non-technical and achievable for those who are enthusiastic as well as being relatively fit.

NEW 'Trekking in Reunion' most spectacular trekking in Africa with views of the India Ocean views, active volcanic peaks, endemic flora and sleepy villages. Explore for 13 days from just £2,169 including flights departing 2 June and 7 July 2011.
800 kilometres east of Madagascar, the volcanic island of Reunion is perhaps one of the most spectacular trekking destinations in Africa. In a new itinerary that is sure to inspire every traveller, Exodus offer a variety of different walks, trekking through forest, farmland, across high mountain passes and volcanic peaks - including Piton des Neiges (3070m) and the active Piton de la Fournaise (2632m). These walks range from leisurely to more challenging but with views of stunning, jagged, volcanic peaks, rising some 3000m out of the Indian Ocean, and comfortable mountain gites along the way, every step is worth it.

A Marathon Effort - Mar 2011

Product Manager Chloé Knott to pilot Exodus' first ever cross-country ski marathon trip at Engadine Marathon, Switzerland, March 2011

For every Sales Manager understanding the product is a pre-requisite but for Chloé Knott, Product Manager of Exodus' Winter Activities, it means trying an epic, cross-country ski marathon, for the first time, with 15 clients. This month will see Chloe attempt the 42km Engadine Marathon, one of the most challenging cross-country ski marathons in the world, in Switzerland, 13 March 2011.

Keen to develop its cross-country product offering, Exodus, the UKs leading adventure tour operator, launched an exclusive winter marathon trip, 'Cross-Country Skiing: Engadine' as part of their 2011/2012 Winter Activities brochure. The trip, the first of its kind for Exodus, sees clients participate in this major, cross-country ski marathon, after a week of training and practice on sections of the course. The trip is being co-hosted by tour leader Eric Woolley who, also a ski enthusiast, will be taking part in the marathon alongside Chloé.

After just 12 weeks after the launch of Exodus' new winter activities brochure for 2011/2012, featuring the marathon trip, the Engadine itinerary was sold out. Chloe says Exodus is therefore looking to reintroduce the trip for next year and make it a permanent part of the brochure moving forward.

"The clients I am taking with me are all keen ski enthusiasts but what they are really looking forward to is the sense of the achievement on the Engadine course. This holiday allows people to both enjoy a winter holiday and achieve a goal, so it is a really unique option for agents to offer. I am delighted that its sales success has meant that Exodus might consider exploring other areas in Scandinavia and other marathons.

'Though training has been tough at times, I really enjoy staying fit and the thought of challenging the Engadine course, with some fantastic people, keeps me going. Plus, I will come back with more knowledge than ever about cross-country skiing. I can't wait!'

To keep track of her training and follow Chloé around the course, read her blog.

Whether skiers choose the marathon week or not, they are guaranteed to enjoy the exhilaration of skiing in the Engadine valley and their guide will ensure they return with improved skills and techniques. Acclaimed as Switzerland's premier cross-country skiing location, the Engadine Valley offers extensive, well-maintained tracks, winding through dramatic alpine landscapes. Skiers will be based in the picturesque village of Santa Maria, in a comfortable family-run hotel - the perfect location for excellent skiing from the door and easy access to the larger resorts by private bus. The next available departure is 28 December 2011 - 4 January 2012 from just £1,239 per person, including flights and most meals.

Press Release: A Marathon Effort.

Exodus has just launched their Walking & Trekking brochure 2011 - 2012, offering more than 150 of the world's finest walks and treks, from trekking the Central Atlas and Bougamez Valley in Morocco to the summits of the Chamonix area and the high passes of Kangra. It is time to pull on your boots and start exploring.

Highlights of the Walking & Trekking 2011-2012 brochure include 14 new and improved itineraries as well as an itinerary in Reunion - a county new to Exodus in 2011. Plus, in response to increasing demand, the brochure features new trips in the Alps around Chamonix, as well as two new wildlife specialist trekking trips in the US - 'Yellowstone Wildlife Trek' and 'Wilderness and Wildlife of Alaska'. And if you are not yet sure whether trekking is for you, you are in luck; the new brochure now features extended information especially for new-to-Exodus trekkers.

Programme Manager Dan Cockburn says, "At Exodus, we've continued to build on our long-established reputation as the world's leading walking and trekking experts. We've welcomed more first-time clients this year than in our 37 year history, have 14 new and improved itineraries, and with 97% of existing clients saying they'd recommend Exodus to others, this year promises to be one of the best ever for Exodus' walking and trekking portfolio. We hope that this brochure will inspire you to pull on the boots in the future."

Here is a selection of Exodus' walking and trekking itineraries - new and old:
Walk through the beautiful hills and tea plantations of South India on Exodus' 'Spice Trails of Kerala' trip for 16 days from £1,749, departing 15th and 29th January, 19th February and 12th March 2011.

For quiet trails, clear air and magnificent views of the stunning High Atlas, choose Exodus' 'Mt Toubkal Winter Climb' from just £769, departing 16th and 23rd January 2011. Associate Morocco with sunshine and spice souks? With Exodus, travellers can experience another side to Morocco. During winter months, Mt Toubkal and the surrounding peaks of the High Atlas turn into a winter walkers' paradise - it is the perfect time to visit. The mountains are virtually deserted, apart from the local Berbers, the air is clear, and the views are spectacular. Starting from the vibrant Marrakech, Exodus take travellers right into the heart of the High Atlas to climb North Africa's highest peak (4167m). Crampons and ice axes may be required on some of the days, but this trip is designed to be non-technical and achievable by those who are enthusiastic and fit, even if they are new to winter walking.

A once-in-a-lifetime, great adventure from just £1,549 including flights - trek up Africa's highest mountain on the quiet and less demanding Rongai Route on Exodus' 'Kilimanjaro Climb - Rongai Route' trip. 10 days departing about six times per month, starting with 10th, 17th and 18th June 2011.
The Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and retains a sense of rugged, untouched wilderness lost on the crowded Marangu and Machame trails.
This is for the wannabe machos who actually like the easy ride. The Rongai Route is one of the easiest of all the routes with a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages as it winds its way from the starting point just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border.

NEW 'Yellowstone Wildlife Trek' is an exploration of three national parks, glaciers, geysers, wolves and bears for 15 days from £2,299 including flights. Next departure dates are 25th June and 9th July 2011.
If you are looking for awe-inspiring scenery and an abundance of wildlife, this brand new trek from Exodus means you can stop your search. The Rocky Mountains span from northern Canada to New Mexico in the USA and in the middle of this range, are three celebrated national parks harbouring its most varied scenery and wildlife: the spires and azure lakes of Grand Teton, the towering sentinel peaks and broad valleys of Glacier, and of course the vigorous geology and wildlife of Yellowstone. Bison, bears, wolves, coyote and eagles roam amongst the forests, plains and peaks. With Exodus, travellers have the benefit of being escorted by experts and specialist local guides so in Yellowstone, expect to track with a wolf guide and hike amongst geysers with a geology guide.

NEW 'Trekking in Reunion' most spectacular trekking in Africa with views of the India Ocean views, active volcanic peaks, endemic flora and sleepy villages. Explore for 13 days from just £2,169 including flights departing 21 April, 2 June and 7 July 2011.

Easy Tiger - Apr 2010

Paul Goldstein of Exodus to run London marathon in steel tiger suit for charity - a grrrrr-uelling feat but a worthy one

For most marathon runners, completing the 26-mile London course is gruelling enough but with a 9ft-high, 30 lb aluminum-framed tiger strapped to your back, it is that much harder. For Paul Goldstein, Exodus veteran and award-winning photographer, the London Marathon (25 April 2010) means raising awareness of one of the world's most endangered animals - the Bengal tiger. And to ensure people take notice, Goldstein is running the famous London course in a giant tiger costume.

Tiger numbers are at tipping point. At the turn of the last century, there were an estimated 45,000 tigers living wild in India's forests and now there are less than 1,000 with 13 recorded deaths this year already. Some claim that in five years there will be none left at all. Poaching has left an indelible mark on this magnificent predator and Goldstein is leading the campaign 'Worth More Alive' to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Bengal Tiger. To deter poaching and prove these majestic cats are 'Worth More Alive', Goldstein hopes to raise more than GBP15,000 for Friends of Conservation, a charity that works with communities around the world to protect endangered species and habitats. To support Paul turn the tide towards triumph and help end the decline visit, see Worth More Alive and to sponsor, visit the Just Giving webpage.

Show your support for the Bengal Tiger at Goldstein's slideshow presentation at The Kensington Close Hotel in London on the 22 April 2010.

In 2010, the Chinese Year of the Tiger, Paul's campaign is that much more significant. Paul has been training 15-20 hours a week since last June and hopes his drastic attempt to draw attention to the issue will work. "Sure it'll hurt, but nothing to what tigers are going through" says Goldstein, 'they are worth far more alive than extinct. I've been lucky enough to guide a couple hundred of people to see their first tiger and it's beyond comprehension at how staggeringly beautiful this animal actually is and what an impression it leaves. It is a complete privilege to be in their company. In running this marathon, I am to raise much-needed funds for the cause and encourage people to realise that we are in danger of losing this privilege completely.'
Local projects in Bandhavgarh are vital for the survival of the tiger and the Exodus work in the Bandhavgarh region has included completely rebuilding a local school, installing clean water and funding a much-needed ambulance for the local hospital as well as patrol vehicles for the park. 'Winning on the ground in this stronghold in Bandhavgarh is possible and I will not rest until the battle is won', continues Goldstein. 'At twenty six miles on the 25th, I may be in tears of pain but if it has raised a good amount for many new project in the region, it will be well worth it.'

When Goldstein hasn't got a Bengal on his back, he indulges in his passion for wildlife, photography, travel and tour leading with Exodus. He's journeyed to, and led successful adventure expeditions across, all seven continents including trips to Kilimanjaro, Masai Mara and Antarctica. He is a lively lecturer and hosts photographic presentations across the country with the next on 'Worth More Alive' at The Kensington Close Hotel in London on the 22 April 2010.

Exodus run more than 10 inspiring Indian itineraries and are huge advocates of responsible travel with the following tiger trip of great benefit to the Bengal's, those interested in their preservation and the local population.

Visit India: Land of the tiger - from £1,699 for 17 days, including flights from London, departing 15 October 2010.
Join a 17 day safari across three of Northern India's most fabled wildlife parks; Ranthambore, Kanha and Bandhavgarh offering priceless encounters with these stunning creatures. The parks contain sambar, chital, monkeys, deer, wild boar, leopard and of course, the Bengal Tiger. With eleven game drives included and more optional ones, the chances of seeing the magnificent Bengal tiger are greatly increased. The itinerary also includes visits to ancient forts, temples and villages close to Ranthambore, the old and new towns of Delhi and a journey to the Taj Mahal.

Wildlife through a Lens - Help Save the Bengal Tiger with Exodus - Mar 2010

Photographic safaris trips to India, Kenya, Antarctica and Sri Lanka from £1,599 including flights, 17 days accommodation, expert photographers and most meals

Support 'Worth More Alive' with slideshow from award-winning photographer Paul Goldstein at The Kensington Hotel, London, 22 April at 19:00

Photographic trips are far more that 'ticking off the big five'. For real photographers, it is all about capturing the 'perfect shot' - waking up at dawn to catch leopards at sunrise when the lighting is best or perched on the edge of a zodiac in Arctic waters ready for the polar cubs to appear. Exodus, one of the UK's leading provider of photographic trips, runs six itineraries a year to six different destinations and boasts a team of photographic experts that include award-winning photographer Paul Goldstein and field-leading tutors such as TV presenter Chris Packham.

Goldstein says: 'Last year I guided over 250 clients on photographic holidays all over the world, spending days - sometimes all day - and weeks waiting for 'that moment'. These photographic hard yards are what the sport is about and why it is so satisfying when you succeed.'

'An Exodus photographic trip takes customers to the heart of the world's wildlife with people who are passionate about their surroundings and the best at what they do. Whether it is the majestic Bengal tiger in India, a 4,000 strong penguin rookery in Antarctica, or a cheetah cub in the Masai Mara, I can guarantee that with Exodus, you have the best chance of getting a shot you will be truly proud of.'

Chances to catch wildlife on film in their natural habitat are however, increasingly rare with more and more species becoming endangered. One animal at risk is the stunning Bengal Tiger. At the turn of the last century, there were an estimated 45,000 tigers living wild in India's forests and now, some claim that in five years there will be none left at all. Exodus' Paul Goldstein is leading a campaign 'Worth More Alive' to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Bengal Tiger and if you book an Exodus photographic safari to India, you have the chance to make a difference too.

India: Land of the tiger - from £1,599 for 17 days, including flights from London, departing 15 October 2010.
Tigers are what this trip is all about and Exodus hosts a 17 day safari across three of Northern India's most fabled wildlife parks; Ranthambore, Kanha and Bandhavgarh offering priceless encounters with these stunning creatures. The parks contain sambar, chital, monkeys, deer, wild boar, leopard and of course, the infamous Bengal Tiger. With eleven game drives included and more optional ones, the chances of seeing the magnificent Bengal tiger - from either an open top canter (truck), a sweeping view over grasslands from a hilltop fort in Bandhavgarh, or the Kipling-esque landscapes of Kanha - are greatly increased. The itinerary also includes visits to ancient forts, temples and villages close to Ranthambore, the old and new towns of Delhi and a journey to the Taj Mahal.

Exodus is a huge advocate of responsible travel and aim to show the population of Bandhavgarh in Madya Pardesh the direct benefits of protecting the tigers of this region. Local projects are vital for the survival of the tiger and Exodus work in the Bandhavgarh region has included rebuilding a local school, installing clean water towers and funding a much-needed ambulance for the local hospital.

Some of Exodus' other photographic trips include:
Spectacular Spitzbergen - from £3,590 for 11 days, excluding flights, Next departure date 24 July 2010.
Sail to 80 degrees north, beyond the Arctic Circle and around the island of Spitzbergen, where snow-draped mountains rise high above the pack ice. This year, Paul Goldstein will lead two special photographic departures in search of the perfect polar bear sighting.

Circle Quest from £4765 for 15 days, not including flights, from London departing 26 February 2011
Led by Paul Goldstein this voyage will navigate below the Antarctic Circle to icy wildernesses rarely witnessed. By this time of year the sea has warmed comparatively, attracting legions of krill which then seduce the squadrons of Humpacks, Minkes and sometimes Orcas. It is possible to see and photograph whales in many areas of the world, but seldom with lumps of cobalt blue ice the size of St Paul's Cathedral as shimmering backdrops.

Kenyan migration, photographic safari - from £3,499 for nine days, including flights from London, departing 16 September 2010.
The migration wildlife on the Kenyan plain make this safari a classic and great for keen photographers. To catch the best of Kenya with an expert, join one of Goldstein's 14-hour game drives. Travellers need to be prepared for early starts and long days but the rewards will be worth it. Highlights include breathtaking views of zebra and wildebeest across acacia spotted plains amongst the backdrop of the Rift Valley and the rolling savannah of the Masai Mara, home to the annual migration of countless zebra and wildebeest.

Whales and Leopards of Sri Lanka - from £1,669 for 10 days including flights from London. Next departure is 18 February 2011.
Photograph the extraordinary phenomenon of the huge Blue and Sperm Whales arriving in numbers just off the south coast from a privately chartered boat. And if you fancy another wildlife hit, the trip goes to Yala, which has one of the highest concentrations of leopards in the world - literally unmissable.

Exodus Gets Top Marks for Customer Service - Feb 2010

Pioneering tour operator, Exodus, is rated 'exceptional' by Investors in Customers (IIC) 2010 forecast positive with 17% year on year growth in January for Exodus

10 February 2010: Exodus, leading UK adventure tour operator, has been awarded the maximum score of three-stars by service standard experts, Investors in Customers (IIC). The award is testament to Exodus' internal customer investment and innovation and they are delighted to have won the award.

The first travel company to be audited by the IIC, this accolade joins a series of recent successes for the pioneering tour operator including Highly Commended for Tour Operator of the Year by both the British Travel Awards and Wanderlust Magazine.

'Over the last 18 months we've put increasing focus the customer at Exodus', says Managing Director since 2007, Pete Burrell. 'We've restructured and improved at every stage, contact point and process to offer an exceptional product that offers our customers life changing experiences for great value.'

Exodus provides holidays for 30,000 passengers per year and the award from the IIC is a fantastic achievement for the tour operator. Exodus' strategy over the last 36 years has been to focus on their existing customer base; ensuring customers remain loyal and book again with Exodus for their next adventure. Exodus has 2,000 customers who have taken more than 10 holidays with the company and with Exodus' loyalty programme, those repeat customers get 5% and 10% discount on their trips, depending on how many trips they have previously travelled on.

More people are choosing an adventure holiday in 2010 and having just reported a 17% increase in sales year on year in January 2010, this year is set to remain strong for Exodus. Investment in their customers has been key to their strategy so this new award represents a great success for the company.

Now operating over 400 itineraries in 90 countries and having introduced 65 new trips in 2010, Exodus' upward growth continues. Always offering their customers new and innovative tours as well as operating the more well-known and popular trips very well, Exodus remains one of the leading adventure tour companies.

IIC was established in 2006 and offers companies the chance to gain the IIC award for customer service excellence. Awards are based on independent research amongst customers, staff and senior management alongside research conducted by IIC staff themselves. The award is based on the following four principles:

• Companies should understand their customers' needs
• They should be meeting those needs
• They should be delighting customers in the service they provide
• They should seek to develop a long term relationship with their customers
Neil Craig, MD at IIC commented:
'Amongst the very select group of 3-star companies, Exodus stand out as having the customer very much at the heart of their business and being the driver for service and process developments within the business. For a company of their size, with thousands of customers, they are remarkably close to their customers. This close relationship is reflected in their 'loyalty' scores which are exceptional.'

Reach New Heights and Make a Difference - Jan 2010

New adventure report, 'A Passport to Adventure', reveals a 303% rise in interest in an environmentally friendly holidays and a 202% rise in interest in ethical holidays

Travel responsibly with Exodus with special fundraising trips to Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp, Mount Toubkal and the Inca Trail from just £779

11 January 2010: With 2010 now upon us, it's time to lace up your boots and hit the hills but this year, make sure you make a difference. A new report on adventure travel, published by TUI Travel Adventure Companies, demonstrates that 2010 is the year of responsible travel with 303% saying they would be more likely to choose an environmentally friendly holiday and 202% interested in ethical holidays. With an impressive portfolio of more than 400 exciting trips around the world, Exodus is the best option for you in 2010.

Based on a YouGov market research poll of more than 2,000 people and tourist office figures, the adventure report shows a rise in adventure travel with 190% of those surveyed more likely to take an adventure holiday and 145% more likely to take a special interest holiday. Helped by the high profile of celebrity campaigns like Comic Relief, responsible tourism is getting the attention it deserves and trends are set to continue in 2010. Exodus, the UK's leading adventure tour operator, can report positive growth already with almost 10% more passengers booked for 2010 trips compared to 2009. More people are taking walking trips (19% up), cycling trips (20% up). Families are increasingly intrepid with 29% increase in families booking with Exodus in 2010.

In line with these findings, Exodus has created four special departures for 2010 where popular treks including the Inca Trail and Mount Kilimanjaro have been designated special fundraising trips. Whilst all Exodus holidays are designed to benefit the local communities (In 2009, Exodus reported a 100% rise in bookings for their Kilimanjaro climb meaning they gave back GBP2,000 to the local community), these departures offer a fantastic opportunity to help even more. Exodus will set up a Justgiving sponsorship page for those departing on select trips and add GBP100 (GBP50 for Morocco) to the fund. All the money raised will go to the project, so you can travel safe in the knowledge that your trek is directly supporting the local community.

Fundraising departures in 2010 are:

Peru's Inca Trail - 23 June 2010 from £1,999 per person including flights
Raise funds for the school and outreach programme at the Sacred Valley's Rainbow Centre
The most famous trek in the Americas, the Inca Trail offers a unique and unrivalled combination of history and spectacular scenery. Winding its way from the powerful Urubamba River, across mountain passes and through cloud forests, the ancient Inca road passes several ruined fortresses before reaching the lost city of Machu Picchu. During the trip you will spend a day at the Rainbow Centre in the Sacred Valley, an outreach project from children, some of whom have special needs.

Kilimanjaro Climb - Rongai Route - 9 July 2010 from £1,499 per person including flights
Help build smokeless stoves and conserve the environment
Follow in the footsteps of 2009's Comic Relief climbers and raise money for the Exodus Smokeless Stove Project with the same team that took the BBC's celebrities to the top of Africa's highest mountain. The Rongai Route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north and retains a sense of untouched wilderness, passing through farmland and forest, past Alpine moorland to the beautiful summit cone and offers stunning views throughout the trip. The trip will raise funds for the Smokeless Stove Project which aims to build 140 smokeless stoves and reduce carbon emissions.

Mt Toubkal Climb - 26 September 2010 from £779 per person including flights
- Raise money for local educational and healthcare projects
A perfect 'first time trek', Mount Toubkal stands at 4,167m above sea level and commands superb views of the High Atlas Mountains. The rewarding trek passes through remote villages and terraced fields offering an insight into the life of the hardy Berber people. This trip offers the opportunity to raise money to support the sustainable future of this remote valley community. Although the intentions started with helping the Tijhza School, the Exodus project has now evolved to help the village and the wider community. The project offers support to the Berber children and villagers of Tijhza Village by focusing on essentials that many take for granted, such as health care, education and a sustainable income.

Everest Base Camp - 28 November 2010, £1,549 per person including flights
Help install an eco-cooker and raise funds for the Himalaya Community Support Project
This lodge-based trek follows in the footsteps of the climbing greats. Trekking through Sherpa country past cultivated fields and small villages, the trip takes in the monastery at Thyangboche which is framed by the Ama Dablam and other huge, snowcapped peaks. With time for acclimatisation en route, the goal is Everest Base Camp on the Khumbu Glacier and the opportunity to climb Kala Pattar (5,545m) for a breathtaking view of the highest mountain on earth.
The trip will support the Himalaya Community Support Project, Nepal which includes an orphanage, healthcare projects as well as a tree nursery. The project has also assisted villagers in Ladakh in rebuilding their homes after recent freak flash floods.

Trends from the report also include a rise in interest for more challenging treks in Euro and non-Euro destinations and year on year growth in destinations like Morocco was (showing growth of up 80%) and Egypt and the Middle East (UK visitor numbers are set to double in the next 3 years). 'Once in a lifetime' destinations like Kilimanjaro, the Inca Trail and Angkor Wat were also very popular and Polar Regions demonstrate a 300% growth. Now the largest operator of small-ship polar expeditions, Exodus' new 2010/2011 Polar Expeditions brochure is full of trips to Antarctica, Spitzbergen and the Arctic Circle you are guaranteed never to forget. Travel the Northwest Passage for 20 days, one of the most legendary routes in Arctic lore, from £15,340 including flights (18 days ship-only).
